What is Group Communications as a Service (GCaaS)?

Is Group Communications as a Service (GCaaS) the same as Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) or Broadband Push-to-talk (BBPTT)?

No!

A short answer, but 100% correct, however let’s explain. PoC & BBPTT are generally terms associated within the two-way radio industry as a push-to-talk (PTT) solution, enabling instant communications over a Cellular and or Broadband network.

What is PoC?

PoC is Push-to-Talk over Cellular, a first generation technology with a fixed functioned PTT only solution.

What is BBPTT?

BBPTT is Broadband Push-to-talk, a second generation technology with a PTT solution and limited applications.

What is GCaaS?

GCaaS is Group Communications as a Service, a third generation technology with a open collaboration, productivity and safe worker solution

PTT is just one a feature of GCaaS, it is not defined by it.  GCaaS includes a wide range of capabilities that enable teams, regardless of location, with the ability to collaborate and communicate via voice, data, and imagery (both static and moving).
